The King of Tilapia

The King of Tilapia

From “Tilapia” to Tilapia Bag – A Story of Friendship and Sustainability

This special bag is inspired by the Tilapia fish, a symbol of friendship and sustainability between Thailand and Japan.

In 1965, Crown Prince Akihito of Japan (later Emperor Akihito) presented 50 Tilapia fish to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great (Rama IX). His Majesty nurtured and bred the fish, distributing them to the people of Thailand in 1966. This marked the beginning of a sustainable path to food security and self-reliance that continues to benefit the country to this day.

BWILD ISAN is proud to share this beautiful story through meticulous Thai craftsmanship. Every detail is thoughtfully crafted to ensure each piece carries true meaning and tangible value—passing on this legacy of friendship through the story of The King of Tilapia.
